Summer TV : the most interesting casts
Summer is here and thankfully TV stations don't treat it as the deadliest time of year. There are some great tv shows, some sweet returns and some awkward choices but there is a lot to watch. So my favorite summer tv casts so far.
1.I have discovered an exceptional series,it is not summer tv but I have to share it because it is simply fantastic.
LOVE/HATE is an Irish series,a cruel and graphic story about Dublin crime scene. There were 3 seasons so far and now they are shooting the fourth.
It is a brilliant tv product, and the cast is amazing. So many interesting faces, strong and brave actors, from the leads to the supporting actors, everyone is exceptional.
Great work from the casting director Maureen Hughes and sensational interpretations from Robert Sheehan (whom I have already mentioned in my blogs),Tom Vaughan - Lawlor,Aidan Gillen and absolutely everyone else. One of the best casts I have ever seen on European televisions!!!!!
2."Ray Donovan", an intriguing story from Showtime, surprising subject and great creators.
I had my doubts about Liev Schreiber,he was the weakest casting link in pilot but I am happy I gave him the benefit of doubt. He was good in the following episodes, precise and savy. The rest of the cast is excellent, with amazingly flippant Jon Voight, it was lovely to see him in a great project.Eliot Gould also very amusing, and Eddie Marsan and Dash Mihok poignant as brothers Donovan.Very good job, casting director John Papsidera.
3."A Place to Call Home",Australian tv series, true summer delight,a prime time soap that turned amazing by sheer force of great acting. It has everything a soap should have but it has something more,an exceptional cast. They are so good that even the absurdities of the script don't irritate you.Marta Dusseldorp,Arianwen Parkes Lockwood,Craig Hall and the best of them,Noni Hazlehurst are dramatic, touching and credible.Great casting job from the casting director Ann Robinson and all the acting ensemble.
4."Necessary Roughness",a sentimental choice because it is so great to watch dr Santino,a woman of a certain age::)),having so much fun and bewitching so many guys.Good for You dr Santino!I love Callie Thorne, always did and her great sense of humour and effortless acting make this show appealing. She is enjoying herself immensely and the public can enjoy with her and her hot co-stars,John Stamos,Scott Cohen and a very interesting Mehcad Brooks.
R.I.P. Cory Monteith
Another tragic loss in acting community,a young talented performer Cory Monteith died two days ago in Vancouver.
Even though he had many roles through his sadly brief career, his most famous interpretation was definitely Finn Hudson in Glee.
To all of us Gleefans,it was a feast watching Cory do his Finn.
He was a nice, decent, funny guy who had to endure a lot throughout his to short Glee existence.
He was cheated on,betrayed by his best friend and eternally tortured by his neurotic girlfriend(s).
He was kicked out of his team and got back,he got a brother and a step father whom he learned to love and support,he won some,he lost some,he was a really awkward dancer and a loyal friend.
Finn had a lot of challenges in Glee but Cory Monteith did it all with a lot of charm and enthusiasm, with great sense of humour and truly amazing musical performances.
Unfortunately, his career was tragically short and we can all regret we didn't get a chance to see many more interesting roles Cory had in front of him.
So R.I.P. Cory and thank You from a devoted Gleefan.

The most overrated European actresses and actors
To be fair to Hollywood,Europe has also a lot of artists who are getting excellent roles, who are plastered on every front page and who are generally considered to be huge stars while their talent is average,to be very generous.Sometimes it is their looks that upgrade them, some of them are lucky enough to start with a great director so their path becomes easier but they are simply not good enough for the interesting roles they are getting.
So here is my list of Euro hype,in random order.

1.Keira Knightley,uber hype,so many great chances,so little magic,the luckiest actress in Europe

2.Daniel Craig,if it was only Bond,I could live with it,but he gets so many challenging roles and he is simply shallow

3.Monica Belluci,I get it,she is an incredibly beautiful woman but that is definitely not enough

4.Til Schweiger,German star who is recycling his former charms all over again

5.Sophie Marceau,a French superstar, painfully repetitive and one dimensional

6.Vincent Perez, French super busy actor,so many intriguing roles,so many disappointments

7.Martina Gedeck,German actress, she is everywhere and she is so predictable

8.Matthew Goode,I like him,a lot,but he is getting to many demanding roles for his average talent

9.Jessica Schwartz,another German hype,vain and uninspiring

10.Vincent Cassel,he is talented but lazy and conceited enough to show only one part of his talent all over again

11.Charlotte Gainsbourg,oh God,one of the most irritating actresses in the world and so highly regarded ,I can't believe it

12.Jude Law,a hot mess,to many tabloid stories and not enough good interpretations, lost in his chaotic life but still getting to much attention and great acting opportunities, pity because he has some potential

11.Emily Mortimer,american tv creators simply love her,why???????????

12.Daniel Bruhl, the guy is nice and funny but that can't justify all the great chances he is getting

12.Rebecca Hall, she gave us a brief moment of quality in "The Town" but everything else was painful to watch and yet she keeps landing interesting projects, another brit hyper hype

13.Rosamund Pike, she managed to get an Oscar nomination, the girl without a hint of real emotion
